“fire and meat simply
go well together.” – josh sacks
Oink and Moo BBQ specializes in house-smoked meats paired with flavor-enhancing artisanal sauces and special toppings. We make everything from scratch. By keeping it clean and simple, we let our ingredients shine.
In the beginning …
Founded by a foodie with a penchant for barbecue, Oink and Moo BBQ is all about flavor and pairings. We start with top-quality meats and poultry, wood-smoked low and slow right on our premises – and add chef-created sauces and special toppings to achieve BBQ bliss.
Chef-owner Josh Sacks grew up in a food-focused family in northeastern New Jersey. He often cooked for his family, where food was the focal point of any celebration, and enjoyed creating memorable meals. Barbecue became his number one obsession; college in Arizona added Tex-Mex in second place.
BBQ that’s uniquely ours
On later vacation trips, dragging his wife along through the Barbecue Belt from the Carolinas to Texas, Josh explored every style and taste sensation along the way. Back home, he honed his barbecue chops, borrowing a mix of styles from each region to create his own unique take on BBQ.
BBQ parties that drew raves from friends and relatives prompted him in 2011 to try catering – for pay – and there came a revelation: “Wow! This is a real thing!”
A Food Truck is born
Next step was Josh’s first Oink and Moo Food Truck in 2012. He ditched his day job to do corporate catering gigs during the week, and festivals and private parties on weekends. It quickly became a Jersey favorite.
Two years later, we launched our second Oink and Moo BBQ Food Truck in Philadelphia and immediately got noticed – big time! Oink and Moo won a Vendy Award (for purveyors of street food) as Rookie of the Year for 2014, and Zagat rated it one of the eight best new food trucks in Philadelphia.
Since then, Oink and Moo BBQ has been stacking up awards at food truck festivals and gained national recognition as one of The Daily Meal’s top 10 food trucks in the U.S. In 2016, Oink and Moo received top honors as the Number One food truck in the country.
Put a roof on it
Early in 2017, Josh added a bricks and mortar location, opening Oink and Moo BBQ in Voorhees, N.J. A casual, family-style eatery, it offers an expanded menu to BBQ and Tex-Mex fans in South Jersey and Philadelphia.
A year later, he turned the historic Perryville Inn in Hampton, N.J., into a slightly more upscale BBQ restaurant with a full liquor license and plenty of space for private parties, weddings and bar mitzvahs. BBQ and Tex-Mex lovers from North and Central Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania enjoy the food and fun, with special events planned regularly.
Today, in addition to the two restaurants, our fleet of food trucks covers the Tri-State area with BBQ and Tex-Mex catering for corporate events and private parties for as few as 50 people and as many as 800.
Here’s Josh Sacks, the culinary chief of Oink and Moo BBQ. Josh grew up with great food in his DNA, and he’s translated his love of barbecue and Tex-Mex into an array of brilliantly paired offerings at two restaurants, traveling food trucks and catered events.
